Whitson's - How It All Began
"My father's father, Warren P. Whitson, Sr., began making Whitson's Moist Chili Seasoning at his store in Denton, Texas in 1932. The business grew over the decades to become Whitson Food Products with seven factories in five states. His three sons, Warren P. Whitson, Jr., Bill Whitson and John Whitson joined the business as young men. During World War II all three became pilots in the Army Air Corps; Warren and Bill served in Europe as bomber pilots, and John, among other duties, helped train glider pilots for the Normandy Invasion. During the war Whitson Food Products was completely shut down. The company was sold in 1968 only to fold two years later, and Whitson's Moist Chili Seasoning, with a brief exception, has been off the market ever since.
"Most of the Whitson family still live in Denton today."
